Elon Tusk – the billionaire founder of the Tesla electric car company – is one of the world’s most successful businessmen.
Prices for his distinctive Tesla cars start at around £40,000 and they have never been more popular.
They are changing the face of the motoring industry and will do for generations to come.
Well done to Elon for realising a brilliant idea with such spectacular success.
Tusk is 50 years old – an age when around half of men have experienced some kind of hair loss.
You would not know it from looking at pictures of Elon recently but he has previously suffered from fairly aggressive male pattern baldness.
And he has almost certainly combated his hair loss with a hair transplant.
The difference in his appearance in the pictures below show a quite dramatic improvement in his appearance.
To achieve that kind of hair cover in the picture on the right Elon would have needed more than one hair transplant.
He is to be congratulated on his choice of surgeon because he has a fantastic head of hair.
Tusk had the option of two types of hair transplant – which are both available at Crown Clinic through our consultant surgeon Asim Shahmalak.
Around 80% of patients at Crown Clinic opt for a Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE) transplant. It is the more modern method and one chosen by most of Dr Shahmalak’s celebrity clients.
Donor hair is taken from the back and sides of the scalp and then replanted in the balding areas – in this case towards the front of Tusk’s scalp.
The advantage of this method is the scarring is minimal. Patients are left with red pin pricks where the donor hair is harvested and replanted but these tend to heal after a couples of weeks.
Celebrity clients who have had a FUE transplant with Dr Shahmalak include the Coronation Street star Jack P Shepherd, the model Calum Best, footballer Didi Hamann and the Homes Under the Hammer presenter Martin Roberts.
At Crown Clinic, Dr Shahmalak still does the more traditional form of hair transplantation called FUT (follicular unit transplantation).
The surgeon cuts a strip of skin from the back of the scalp to obtain the donor hair which is extracted under a microscope by technicians. It is then replanted in the balding areas by the surgeon in the same way as FUE.
Because FUT is less labour intensive than FUE, it is cheaper.
Whatever method Tusk chose he is to be congratulated in his choice because his hair looks fantastic.
